The Suicide Memorial and Bereavement Quilts Roadshow will tour Kirklees in June as a travelling exhibition honouring lives lost and raising awareness about suicide prevention and other forms of bereavement.

The exhibition, organised by Kirklees Council, will feature the Yorkshire ‘Speak Their Name’ Memorial which was 12 months in the makin, and features 10in squares created in memory of a someone loved who has died by suicide.

Initially unveiled at an event in Millennium Square in Leeds last year, the quilt has since gone on tour across the region.

Throughout June, the quilt will tour Kirklees along with the Batley Bereavement Quilts, providing people with the opportunity to learn and connect with others who have been affected by bereavement.

The roadshow will feature over 60 free events and activities including suicide prevention presentations, guest speakers, network opportunities and more.

One of the stops on the tour is the Brian Jackson Centre in Huddersfield where the quilts will be showcased from June 13-15th alongside a performance of Community Links’ CLEAR service’s Men’s Talk on the 13th at 10.30am.Men's Talk performance.jpg

Men’s Talk is a 40-minute performance created and performed by men who have experienced mental health issues. Tickets to this are available via Eventbrite.

The Brian Jackson Centre will also host a return of the roadshow later in the month, from June 21st to 23rd, alongside a Wellbeing Festival.

The roadshow will culminate in an event at Dewsbury Library on July 7th to reflect on the impact of the roadshow. To book a place visit the event’s link on Eventbrite.
