Creating Hope Through Language
The West Yorkshire Suicide Prevention Programme has created a language advice guide called 'Creating Hope Through Language', offering advice on what to say/what not to say.
Warning signs and what to say
Guidance, called the Ask, Assist, Act, provides information about the signs that someone might be feeling suicidal and what you can say to help them. It has been created by MECC Link - Making Every Contact Count (MECC) Community of Improvement, a network supported by Yorkshire and Humber Public Health.

Suicide Prevention - Guidance for frontline workers and volunteers - This guidance was produced by Leeds City Council's public mental health team to support people in Leeds to help them feel more confident to talk to someone about suicide.

Suicide Bereavement Services - Leeds and West Yorkshire provides practical and emotional support to people who have been affected by a suicide bereavement. In Kirklees and Leeds, this includes support for children and families.
Let's Talk About Loss
Let's Talk about Loss runs meet-ups to create a safe space to talk through taboos and adress the reality of losing someone close to you - for people aged 18 to 35. Email leeds@letstalkaboutloss.org.
Leeds Community Gambling Service
Leeds community Gambling Service (GamCare) provides free treatment to any who has suffered from gambling harms (whether it is the gambler themselves or an affected other). In addition, GamCare reaches out to the business sector, social care sector, and third sector services to offer free training around gambling harms, problem gambling, and treatment options.
NHS Northern Gambling Service
The NHS Northern Gambling Service provides specialist addiction therapy and recovery to people affected by gambling addiction, as well as those with mental health problems. They also provide help to people close to those with gambling addiction.

Man About Town

Offload - Rugby League Cares
The Offload project involves men engaging with current and former players to learn the techniques clubs use to manage players’ mental and physical fitness. Leeds: Tuesdays 7pm – Headingley Stadium, LS6 3BR.
MINT - Men In Need Together
MINT provides free weekly support groups for all men to attend and talk about their struggles in a peer-to-peer setting, with at least one facilitator. In Leeds, MINT meets in Morley at St Peter's Church, Rooms Lane, every Tuesday from 7pm to 10pm and in Otley at 98 Boroughgate, every other Tuesday (fortnightly) from 7pm to 10pm.
West Yorkshire 24-hour mental health helpline
You can phone the West Yorkshire 24-hour mental health helpline, free, on 0800 183 0558. It provides confidential support, advice and information to anyone over 18 who is concerned about their mental health or worried about a family member or someone they care for.
Here For You: Out of Hours Support in a Safe Space
Touchstone's Here For You - Leeds is open to anyone aged 16+ in crisis in Leeds and is open every evening all year round. Phone: 07776 173476 from 6pm-12am.

PeerTalk
PeerTalk's vision is to establish a UK wide network of volunteer facilitated peer support group meetings for people who experience depression and to offer support to their families. A peer support group meets in in Leeds in person every Thursday evening at The Fairfax Hall, Rm 121, Leeds Beckett University, Headingly Campus, Leeds, LS6 3QT from 6.30 - 8.00pm. There is no need for referrals or bookings, the group is free and there are no waiting lists. Anyone wishing to attend is welcome to call 07719 562617 for a friendly chat beforehand. Leeds Dads is a Leeds based voluntary organisation that brings together a diverse community of fathers for social activities and support.
'Leeds Dads Evening Support Session': On Wednesday nights at 8-9pm, Leeds Dads hosts an hour where dads can openly discuss challenging, difficult or sensitive topics without judgment via a private text-based service on Facebook. Join the private Leeds Dads Facebook group.
PARENTS Online
PARENTS Online offers text-based emotional support to parents/carers who may have experienced separation from children or a relationship breakdown, which is a key factor in suicide. The service can be used anonymously and is staffed by trained peer support workers with their own lived experience of parenting. Available Monday-Friday 6pm-9pm.
Battle Scars
Battle Scars provides a peer support group for anybody affected by self-harm: those who self-harm and those supporting them.
Harmless
Harmless is a user led organisation that provides a range of services about self-harm and suicide prevention including support, information, training and consultancy to people who self-harm and those at risk of suicide. They also offer support and training to service users’ friends, families and professionals who are involved in their care.
Op COURAGE
Op COURAGE is an NHS mental health specialist service designed to help serving personnel due to leave the military, reservists, armed forces veterans and their families.
Combat Stress
Combat Stress is a charity for veterans' mental health. They help former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Leeds's Money Information Centre offers details on where to access free, independent and confidential advice on debt, benefits, emergency food, low cost loads, bills, employment and gambling harms.

MindMate is here to help young people in Leeds find help with their mental health and wellbeing.

Any 10-18 year old in the Leeds area can sign themselves up anonymously for free, safe, same-day, BACP accredited support on Kooth.com. The online community offers free counselling and drop in chats via our live chat system, advice articles, discussion boards and activities all designed to improve emotional and mental health. You won't need a referral, and there aren't any thresholds or waiting lists, just head to the Kooth homepage to create your account.
