Following on from Keighley Cougars, who dedicated their previous week's fixture against Barrow Raiders to the WY HCP suicide prevention campaign, the two major clubs used their weekend matches to promote its potentially life-saving messaging to fans and supporters.

The Check In With Your Mate campaign aims to normalise conversations around mental health and suicide, particularly among men, encouraging people to reach out, check in and keep in touch with their mates.

The campaign uses the url www.checkinwithyourmate.co.uk to signpost to the 'support in your area' section of this suicide prevention website.  Tweet shows a t shirt with the Check In With Your Mate logo draped pitchside at Bradford City AFC..JPG.png

In May, major sports clubs in Bradford announced they were going to be supporting the campaign throughout this year, thanks to funding from Bradford Council's Public Health team, with activities boosted around World Suicide Prevention Day.

Players at the Bradford City game at Valley Parade against Grimsby, on September 9th, warmed up in their Check In With Your Mate-branded T shirts, which were also passed around supporters to share the message.

The club's social media and online channels also carried campaign messages and the graphics were shared across the scoreboard and throughout the stadium in the game's pitch announcer's script.

And at Bradford Bulls game against York Knights at Odsal stadium, Andy's Man Club, a  charity which provides mental health and wellbeing suport to men, were also on hand to provide advice and support to those who need it.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation also backed the campaign with a series of timed social media PIcture shows a tweet by Bradford Bulls in support of Check In With Your Mate campaign.png posts around World Suicide Prevention Day, through partnership work with Leeds City Council's public health team.
