A mental health workshop will be held in Leeds later this month featuring stalls of services, guest speakers and wider discussions on wellbeing topics.

The Sikh Alliance Yorkshire has organised the Leeds Mental Health Workshop in collaboration with the Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service.

It will take place on Friday July 22 at Primley Wood School, Fir Tree Rise in Leeds, from 5.30-9pm, and follows on from the organisation’s initial workshop in 2019.

Guest speakers on the evening will be Dr Anjula Gupta, consultant clinical psychologist at Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust; and Arfan Hanif, chief executive of Touchstone.

The event will also feature stall holders including Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service, Touchstone, LYPFT Perinatal Mental Health Team, Sikh Forgiveness, Sikh Helpline, Sikh Your Mind, Linking Leeds and Coach Gym Leeds.

The workshop will feature debate by an audience as well as panel members, on the following questions:

  1. What can we do to keep ourselves well – emotionally and physically?
  2. What are the impacts of trauma/or severe adversities experienced in health over time?
  3. What wellbeing support is available in our local communities to support people and how can we access this?
