The latest in a series of videos which aims to tackle stigma and encourage meaningful conversations has focused on the impact on emergency services responding to suicide.

Social enterprise Speakers Collective has hosted its latest online ‘Meaningful Conversation’, hosted by Angela Samata, its founder, speaking with Dr Sharon McDonnell, managing director of Suicide Bereavement UK and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, and Ann Marie McStocker, health and wellbeing manager at the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

Dr McDonnell said, as an academic she has conducted several studies exploring the experiences and perceived needs of emergency services responding to suicide and the majority reported feeling too vulnerable to speak out to their employer.

She recommended anyone working in suicide prevention/postvention/emergency services to watch the recording.
