A study day has been organised covering warning signs and prevention of suicide death in children and young people.

Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust has organised the event which takes place virtually, on MS Teams, on November 9th from 9am to 3pm.

The talk will hear from experts in the field of children and young people’s mental health and suicide prevention, including Prof Prathiba Chisabesan, consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist at Pennine Care Foundation NHS Trust and Cathryn Rodway, programme manager and research associate at the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide Safety in Mental Health (NCISH) at the University of Manchester.

The day will also hear from bereaved parent Pat Sowa, whose son Don took his own life at the age of 17.

Jess Parker, programme manager of WY HCP’s Suicide Prevention Programme will also talk about the resources available to families and professionals.

The day ends with a round table talk chaired by Dr Folasade Rotimi, consultant paediatrician and designated SUDIC paediatrician at Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
