Sharing Voices, the Bradford-based community mental health organisation, has organised the training sessions for those in the healthcare sector to gain more of an understanding about when someone might be at risk, how to tackle suicide ideation in a competent and culturally appropriate manner and what can be done to offer practical support.

The training covers perceptions and views on suicide, influences and drivers of suicide and risk factors as well as the impact of suicide, experience of services and support and issues affecting gender and young people.

The free training will take place from 10am to 1pm on September 13th, October 18th, November 15th and December 13th; and from 2pm to 5pm on September 15th, October 20th, November 17th and December 15th.

The training follows research, carried out by Sharing Voices and funded by the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, on suicide prevention in South Asian communities.

The findings of the research will be launched on September 7th at 10am at Guardian House, 22 Manor Row, Bradford, in conjunction with World Suicide Prevention Day. Click here to book onto the research launch event.
