West Yorkshire organisations can help influence mental health policy nationally by responding to a Government call for evidence, launched this month.
The Government is seeking views and ideas on how to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage mental ill-health and other health concerns as part of a call for evidence for its ‘major conditions strategy’.
The strategy - which iams to improve the health of the nation and ease pressure on the health system - will focus on six major groups of health conditions which most affect the population of England. As well as mental ill-health, it also includes cancers, cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, dementia and musculoskeletal disorders.
Currently in England, it is estimated that 8.2 million people live with mental health issues.
It also seeks views on how to address the behavioural risk factors which are common to the major condition groups and how to improve care for those with one or more multiple conditions.
The call for evidence builds on calls for evidence last year on cancer and mental health, which the Government said it will also be considering in the development of the major conditions strategy.
The consultation closes at 11.59pm on June 27th 2023.
