A former Bradford mental health nurse who lost his son to suicide last year, has been creating short films which aim to offer information to others struggling with their mental health.

Rob Barrowcliff, who now lives in Littlebrough, near Manchester, lost his son Toby, 26, last August in Kent and has since been creating short films in the hope of preventing others from doing the same.

He said: “I started putting videos together offering information such as how one can stay safe or access service and advice in a crisis.

"These videos are generic and comments are inaccessible to prevent any unhealthy discussion. They are also subtitled for the hearing impaired.

“The content comes from my professional background as a mental health nurse.”

He added: “I know I’ll never be able to stop every case, however I hope my videos can serve to promote thought, offer guidance and positive encouragement for those who would have none otherwise.”

During his time in West Yorkshire, Rob also set up a homeless outreach service and worked with an enhanced mental health team in Batley before changing roles to teach nursing at Bradford University.
