West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership’s Suicide Prevention Programme has been running a series of in-person training sessions at venues across West Yorkshire since October 2023.

After positive feedback from social prescribers - the initial target of the training - the ICB has decided to now extend this offer to include other roles withing Primary Care Networks (PCNs).

From February 2024, the free training can now be accessed by:

  • Social Prescribers or Social Prescribing Link Workers
  • Health and Wellbeing Coaches
  • Care Co-ordinators

The free three-hour course offers bespoke training on warning signs and risk factors, how to support people struggling with suicidal feelings and ways to help tackle stigma.

The aim of the training is to develop skills and build confidence around the topic of suicide and suicide prevention.

The courses are led by the programme's workforce development facilitator, Kiah Hamilton-Adams, and follows the success of an inital pilot session held in October, pictured above right.
