The Coroners' Court Support Service (CCSS) is a national charity whose volunteers offer emotional support and practical help for anyone attending an inquest or have questions about the coronial service.
CCSS have a local support volunteer team, covering Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees in West Yorkshire.
How can CCSS volunteers help?
Local CCSS volunteers will attend court on the day of inquest to provide face to face support. Prior to inquest a local Telephone Support Service (TSS) volunteer will speak about the court they attend to provide support and offer an insight into the venue location, facilities, parking etc.
The national team of helpline volunteers speak with anyone who has questions about the inquest process or bereavement pathways, and offer information, support and referrals to a TSS volunteer or signposting to appropriate agencies.
