The Government has pledged an extra £10m funding to third sector organisations in England for suicide prevention work.
In his Spring Budget, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced a £10m ‘Suicide Prevention Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Grant Fund’ will be made available to the voluntary sector across 2023-24 to 2024-25 to “support people experiencing suicidal thoughts or approaching a mental health crisis”.
Responding to the news, Jess Parker, programme manager for this Suicide Prevention Programme, said: “This is great to hear that more funding is being allocated for suicide prevention work.
“We hope this is distributed locally, according to place-based suicide prevention strategies and plans.”
