Self-harm is a sign of serious distress and has been identified as a key risk factor for suicide and it is important that we gather experiences and information to design suitable supports and services.
Whilst services in the Yorkshire and the Humber region have detailed suicide prevention plans in place, there is a gap in knowledge of what resources are needed at a local level in the community to support adults that self-harm.
To remedy this, colleagues from the University of Sheffield are conducting a Self-Harm in Adults Research Project. They are looking to recruit:
- Adults aged between 18 - 65, with lived experience of self-harm in the Yorkshire & Humber region
The research will involve an online or telephone interview with a researcher who will ask a series of open questions about the individual’s experiences of self-harm. Interviews will begin in September 2021 and continue into 2022.
